Founder's Note: Happy 250th 4th of July!

Meek Like Moses Founder Notes

July 2026

Meek Like Moses

Hi My Friends,

As I sit here writing this note, I feel a little like Hannah in the Bible. Thanks to a cold and bad sore throat, my lips might move but no words come out. Thankfully, my pastor only asked me if I wanted prayer rather than if I was drunk.

Despite the fact that I won’t be able to enjoy much of the typical 4th of July good food, I am so excited to celebrate our “country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty!”

Each and every year that July 4th rolls around, I still feel that sense of excitement like I had as a girl who was a little scared of fireworks but determined to keep up with my older siblings and cousins. As I’ve grown older, I’ve added a sense of deep gratitude (especially these last # of years with certain national and world events) to God for creating this haven. A land where I, a simple seed bred from a thousand generations and planted by women and men (both native and foreign born) who loved America, could grow and flourish and worship freely. A land where no matter her flaws and no matter my flaws, I could grow strong with a love for God, family, neighbors and country and develop purpose, resilience and kindness.

God, please help me never to lose these things.

The older I’ve gotten, the more I believe that God established this great nation specifically for the purpose of giving it as an inheritance to His younger, prodigal, gentile children: the Christians.

Sometimes I wonder if we as Christians have been good stewards or if we’ve been wasteful.

One of the ways I try to be a good steward is by going faithfully to vote.

Oh, I hear all the reasons and feel all the emotions that tell me not to bother with voting because one vote won’t matter. Also, if God rules in the kingdom of men, He’s going to put the person He wants in office, right?

The first reason might be true and the last is definitely true. It is also true that God uses humans like you and me to accomplish His will and purpose.

May I remind you of additional truths found in God’s word?

“Faith without works is dead (James 2:26, KJV).”

I’m trusting God to place the right people in office and I tell Him that and ask Him to place the right person in our nation’s leadership. Then I go and vote for whom I believe will be the best candidate.

Sometimes it's easy to choose: like when one candidate says that he/she doesn’t do Jesus and the other candidate gives glory to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and loves Christians and Jews. Then it's super easy.Other times, it's harder and I can only hope. Still I persist. Why?

Well, that brings us to the other truth: perhaps God will have mercy, look beyond our faults and see our needs.

I look at the example of Abraham beseeching God for Lot’s dwelling place (Genesis 18:17-33) and the example of Nineveh (Chapters’ 3 & 4 in the Book of Jonah) where God had mercy. Then I go and vote and back it up with prayer and finish with “Thy will be done.”

So in honor of God, this great, beautiful land He’s given us to roam freely, and America’s 250 years of freedom, I encourage you to go vote this year as well.

It’s the least you and I can do to show God our gratitude for this nation established on biblical principles, this large space He created for Christians to dwell in, build and worship freely…and by extension, a safe haven for Jews to freely dwell in and worship next to us without fear.

I wish you all the beauty, love, laughter, good food, good fellowship, wonderful music, awesome fireworks, awesome parades and fun memories as we all celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

May God Bless You & Your Loved Ones

&

May God Bless America!

With all my love,

Naomi
