The Truth Is....

Hi Lovely,

Can we talk for just a moment about a question that seems to always come up in conversation with people who don’t really know God (believer and non-believer alike)? One version of the question goes like this: “this person says this is necessary to be saved and that person says it’s not necessary. How do I know who is telling the truth?”

The truth is there is only one correct answer to that question and that is to tell them to read the Bible. Yes, that’s correct. You can read devotionals, you can read articles, you can read whole books on one topic and you can even sit in a church service after service listening intently to a preacher.

However, the only way for you to know if what you’re hearing is true is to read the Bible, the whole Bible, and study it. If you’re not reading your Bible, then anyone can tell you anything and you won’t know if it’s true. They can even take one or two scriptures and concoct a whole doctrine off those scriptures which may go completely contrary to God’s Word as a whole.

Now if you can’t be bothered to study it for yourself and you just want to hope & trust that a person is telling you the truth, then please continue merrily on your way. At this point, people might argue with you that you might miss the boat with God because you chose not to verify if you were really hearing truth.

Let’s ask a completely different question today. What if you miss out on the greatest blessing of your life? What if by not studying your Bible (nothing bad happens to you), but you miss out on the answer to a problem you’re having? Maybe you miss out on a healing, a dream coming true, or the answer to your heart’s greatest desire and your prayers?

Here’s another truth for you: Studying your Bible will allow you to know who is telling you the truth, but more than that, it will fill your life with abundant beauty, life, and freedom.

Try God and see.

Genesis 37:9-11

By the end of Joseph’s story, the Bible helps us understand that the dreams Joseph had were from God and shows us that the dreams didn’t tell Joseph, or Jacob his father (in fact, God didn’t tell Jacob anything about His plans for Joseph), the road he would have to travel while those dreams came to pass. The truth is there are moments in life where a dream is given to a specific person to steward and sometimes that person won’t know the road they’ll walk or the circumstances they’ll encounter to achieve the dream.

Is there a dream that might have been given to you, and no one else, to steward and what are you willing to walk through to achieve that dream?

Is the risk worth the reward and does the risk matter if the dream is from God?

In light of how good God is, why do you think God would give a dream but not share journey ahead?
